He Invited Me to His Wedding Novel Chapter 8

He Invited Me to His Wedding Novel Chapter 8 – The moment Ethan saw I meant it eyes darted toward the door.

A second later, his parents rushed in.

that there was no trace of hesitation in my voice he panicked. His Jane Cole, his mother, grabbed my hands tightly.

“Lily, you and Ethan have been together for so long. I’ve always thought of you as my own daughter-in-law! To me, you’ re family dearer than a daughter.”

“Please, sweetheart, just give him one more chance. He knows he was wrong. I promise he’ll treat you right from now on.”

Then Jack Cole added, his tone pleading.

“I already gave him a good talking-to. He won’t do anything foolish again, I swear. Everyone makes mistakes give the boy a chance to fix his.”

I drew in a deep breath and looked at both of them calmly.

“Mr. and Mrs. Cole, where were you when he was planning a wedding with Grace Miller?”

“If you’d stopped him then, maybe things wouldn’t have ended like this.”

Grace was the

“But instead, you helped him. You stood by and supported that wedding. Be honest daughter-in-law you really wanted, wasn’t she? I was just the one who wasn’t good enough.”

Jane’s face went pale.

“No, no, that’s not true! You’ve always been the one we recognized as family. We only agreed to help Grace because we thought she was dying of cancer. We were deceived, Lily — please, forgive us!”

I gave a small, humorless smile.

“Mr. and Mrs. Cole, I’m not stupid.” Then I turned to Ethan.

“This is the last time we’ll ever see each other. I hope we never cross paths again.”

I turned to leave, but Ethan lunged after me, clutching the Asteria Diamond Ring in his hand.

“Lily, please don’t go! Just hear me out!”

He grabbed my arm, refusing to let go until Andrew appeared at the doorway.

“Let her go,” Andrew said, his tone low and dangerous.

Ethan froze. In front of Andrew, he didn’t dare push his luck.

He released me reluctantly and muttered,

“Mr. Grant, Lily only married you out of spite. She’s still angry at me, that’s all.”

“The truth is, she loves me. Even if you’ re married, you’ll never make her happy.”

Before Andrew could even respond, I looked Ethan straight in the eye.

“You’ re wrong, Ethan. I don’t love you anymore.”

“The only man I love now is my husband, Andrew Grant, and that’s never going to change’.”

“You don’ t deserve my love. Those ten years with you were nothing but a mistake — a dark chapter I wish I could forget completely.”

“If I could, I’d wipe every trace of you away as if it never happened.” Ethan’s voice broke as he cried, –

“If you don’t love me anymore, then why did you come today?” I met his gaze calmly.

“Because I wanted to see just how far you’d go this time. And because I needed closure for those ten wasted years.”

“No, no, that’s not it,” he said, shaking his head violently. “You still love me — angry, that’s all. ‘I’ ll wait, Lily. As long as it takes, until you forgive me’.”

Andrew tightened his arm around my shoulders and said evenly, “Then I suggest you wait till the day you die.”

That made Ethan snap. His face twisted with rage. you must! You’ re just

“Andrew Grant, if you don’t let Lily go, I’m quitting! I’ ll walk out and take every client I brought in’ ”!”

Andrew actually chuckled a low, amused sound that made Ethan’s outburst look pitiful. –

“You think those contracts were your doing?” he asked coolly.

“You’ve been the top salesman at Grant Holdings for years because I let you be.”

“Every deal you ever signed, every ‘big client’ you thought you landed – I arranged those for you behind the scenes.”

He took a step closer, voice cold but measured.

“You were never talented, Ethan. I just didn’t want Lily suffering beside a man who couldn’t even provide for her.”

“So I made sure you rose through the ranks. I handed you those opportunities. I propped up your so-called career, for her.’
