Why I Kept Reading
The alternating points of view helped me understand both sides of the conflict. Just when I started sympathizing with Caroline, Easton’s perspective gave me another reason to understand his anger.
The professional hockey setting also gives the romance a different atmosphere. Easton isn’t simply the man from Caroline’s past; he’s now an NHL player with teammates, responsibilities, and an established life. His friends and hockey world add another dimension to the story.
Overall, The One I Left Behind is an emotional second-chance romance about what happens when an old relationship returns with consequences neither person expected.
